Nobody can “earn salvation”! Salvation is the gift of God by grace. Our sinfulness make our best efforts to “earn salvation” as filthy rags before a holy God (Isaiah 64:6). God’s standard is nothing less than perfection. Whoever keeps the whole law but offends in one point is guilty of all (James 2:10). There is therefore no way we could ever “earn salvation”. James 2:14-18 should be read in context with the whole chapter. James is not saying we “earn salvation” by works! Real faith is demonstrated by good works as opposed to someone who claims to have faith but lives in willful disobedience to Christ. One is expected to do good works because one is saved already. Good works are therefore evidence of having been saved already, you cannot “earn salvation”.

Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Titus 3:3-7 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.Ex-OAC critichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01706738902142655667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2425669952325692452.post-14997475110291939602020-03-31T00:40:44.678+02:002020-03-31T00:40:44.678+02:0031 Mar 2020

The reason for us belonging to this Faith / Church is to earn salvation for our souls in the knowledge that we are doing what God expects of us to do. [I PET 1:9]. Paul challenges the Corinthians to examine (even prove) themselves whether they are in the faith [II COR 13:5]: faith without works is dead [JAM 2:14-18].

1 Peter 1:9
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

2 Corinthians 13:5
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Iemand wat die aktiwiteite met ‘n lied in die hart aanpak is ‘n teken van groot seën en is ‘n pragtige voorbeeld en aansporing vir diegene in sy omgewing. Hulle is engele wat ander se lewe kan verander. Joyful apostolics who share in the Church activities with a song in their hearts, are an indication of someone being blessed, and they are a beautiful picture and motivation to everyone around them. We, as the angels of God, should change the lives of those who do not live joyfully.
